Hey there, fellow fashionistas! To help get your week off to a great start, I thought I’d share one of my absolute favorite dresses in my work wardrobe. I’ve been meaning to share it for awhile now and finally got around to it!

Whenever I think that I have too many black dresses, I remind myself that you really can’t go wrong with such classic pieces in the rotation. This particular dress is from L.K. Bennett, which designs fabulous, flawlessly tailored work dresses. I bought this style years ago, sooo…you guessed it – it’s no longer in stock.

Not to worry though! I pulled together my top picks for black sheath dresses that are available right now. As usual, a Black Halo option is one of my choices because they make a perfectly tailored sheath dress. It’s flattering on every figure, which is quite difficult to find.

These ankle strap, black leather pumps are perfect for this look. I love this style in general – the pointy toe paired with the ankle strap is so sleek and sexy. I wore this outfit to my office’s Holiday party, and the shoes were comfortable enough to wear all day. I’ve linked similar versions, since this exact version of Manolo’s is no longer available.

Instead of carrying a black bag (which I considered in line with an all black theme), I added a bit of contrast with my tan Birkin bag. I don’t carry this bag as often as I should, which is a shame because it’s a great piece that will never go out of style. I tend to keep it wrapped up in a dust bag for protection and only take it out a couple of times a year to enjoy it.

To keep basic black pieces from being boring, I look for interesting or unique design features. I absolutely love the neckline on this dress. From the back, it just looks like a high neck dress, but it’s actually a notched v-neck.

I was also quite drawn to the front, side-slit. It’s different from the usual back slit on most dresses, and the asymmetry keeps things fresh. Even though front-slits aren’t highly prevalent in workwear, especially in conservative environments, this dress executes the slit tastefully and is definitely work appropriate.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this Suits You Well look! Have a fantastic week, my friends!
