Hey, fellow fashion and travel lovers! I just traveled to Belize almost two weeks ago (Yay, Southwest!), and I have to share my experience because it was beyond amazing!

Just look at this view from the small puddle jumper plane! It was kind of scary but exhilarating flying into San Pedro from Belize City. You’re flying over the wide expanse of absolutely stunning water in this tiny little plane, and the runway is SO small. I sat in the front with the pilot, so I had a great view the whole time. It was definitely a great experience, even though I’m not a huge fan of flying.

From San Pedro, the resort called Matachica picked us up in a boat and took us the remainder of the way to our destination. It was dark by the time we arrived at the resort, but we could still tell that it was beautiful – breathtaking. The millions of stars were vivid, and I stared in awe for a long time because I never get to see stars in Houston.

I love, love, love this dress. I dropped by Tootsies randomly one day (I usually prefer online shopping, but sometimes you have to stop in the stores to catch a good sale). Anyways, I saw this dress on the sale rack, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but decided to try it on. When I stepped into it, I was struck by how unique it is. I fell in love with the star print (kind of weird) and how the colors meld into each other. The yellow, pink and blue hues are so pretty together, and I also like the neckline. You can hook the clasp or leave it open. Unfortunately, the only one at Tootsies had a stain, so I searched far and wide online and found it!

I saved this beautiful dress just for this trip to Belize, and it was well worth the wait. It was perfect for the beach. The fabric is light and cool, even with the lining. The way it catches the wind isn’t so bad either. 🙂

I can’t say enough good things about Matachica. The property was gorgeous. The staff was superb and knew our names on the first day. The food was so fresh and delicious. They only had one restaurant, and I was worried at first because there’s not really much else around. You can get to the town of San Pedro by golf cart or boat, but you’re pretty much on the resort the whole time.

Well, my worries were put to rest by the first meal – lobster curry. Oh my goodness, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I also ate the seafood pasta another night, and it was really tasty – so tasty that I kept stuffing myself despite being full. They did not skimp on the seafood, and the pasta had plenty of lobster, shrimp, calamari and clams.

This dress was also just right for the beach. I wore it to a baby shower and a pool party earlier in the year, and it worked for those occasions as well. It’s not my normal silhouette choice, and I think that was part of the appeal. It’s loose and flowing and has multiple layers that fall beautifully. It feels nice and breezy, and I love the bright colors as usual! I definitely took a few twirls in the sand to watch it billow around me and loved every minute!

I was searching for the perfect swimsuit (a tall order) for a couple of months. I’m really horrible at buying swimsuits, and I don’t have very many. I find myself continuing to wear old ones that work, but I knew I needed to get something new for this trip. I literally stumbled across this one a week before my trip. It magically arrived on time AND fit. I actually bought a bikini earlier in the year by the same brand (my only other swimsuit purchase), so I think Suboo is going to be a go-to now. The designs, colors and patterns are different, and the swimsuits are made really well.

My casita! It was awesome! I fell asleep in the hammock outside. It was such a beautiful day – every day was. Rain was forecast for the trip, but we didn’t experience one drop. Thanks for lying, weatherman! 🙂

All of the casitas were brightly colored and well kept. There aren’t many on the property, so it’s really private and secluded. I loved that it wasn’t a super busy, noisy resort with lots of people. It was great for relaxation; they even restricted wifi access to common areas, so you couldn’t access it in your room or on the beach. It was just what I needed.

Last, but not least, this is another purchase made for the trip. Great maxi dresses that are reasonably priced are hard to come by in my opinion. I think I own 3 maxi dresses now because I have such a hard time finding one that I’m willing to spend money on. Well, I did the work for you, and you’re in luck if you want a super sexy one that’s affordable. This number is on major sale right now, so you should get it while it’s still available!

I immediately noticed the back – the draping is so pretty. It features a v-neck and a slit up the middle in the front (check out my instagram for a picture!). Another amazing beach/summertime dress. I’ll definitely be getting more wear out of it next year!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this travel post. I’m off to Seattle tomorrow, and I’ll be sure to tell you all about it in the next few weeks!

Stay chic,

Lisa Dawn
