It definitely feels like summertime in Houston, even though we aren’t even in May yet! With the temperatures soaring, it’s time to unpack the shorts and breezy tops. My favorite place to buy shorts is J.Crew. They always have interesting prints and fabrics every summer, along with the usual chinos in every color of the rainbow. I love the length options as well, with the 3 inch inseam being my go-to. I purchased these geometric print shorts last season, and they haven’t lost a bit of their appeal.

A white silk blouse works perfectly with these dark blue and white shorts. I didn’t want to be too busy on the bottom and distract from the interesting pattern of the shorts. This blouse is by no means boring though. Every layer is different, from the sheer bottom layer to the top pleated later. I love that it floats away from the body and catches the breeze. I hate my clothing sticking to me in the heat, and shirts of this style are just the answer to that issue.

I used to think espadrilles were only for older fashionistas, but I love how J.Crew has updated the style with a couple of fun options that are perfect for wide age range! Espadrille wedges are a really awesome alternative to my usual heels, and they are comfortable enough to wear all day. The heel is a manageable height for even those who prefer not to wear heels. The pop of yellow on my feet added just the right amount of brightness to this look!

I accessorized my outfit with golden colored accents. For jewelry, I chose a couple of bangles, a blue cabochon bracelet and a tassel necklace that all worked well together. I carried my corkscrew clutch with a gold clasp as well. This clutch is a summer staple for everything from brunches to weddings! To finish the look off, I wore a cute straw bucket hat, which served a great purpose by protecting my face from the sun!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this summery outfit!

Stay chic,

Lisa Dawn
