It’s cold (for Houston) right now, but I’m dreaming of warmer weather and decided to share this post that we shot a couple of months ago. I’ll be traveling to Australia in a little less than two weeks, so I’m currently planning my warm weather outfits since it’s summer there right now. This look I put together is definitely an option on my packing list.  I love pairing cropped tops with high waisted skinny jeans. This outfit embraces the cropped trend but still leaves something to the imagination. Plus, I just feel more comfortable not exposing my entire stomach.

I have a couple of pairs of dark wash skinny jeans, but I’m really partial to the ones shown here because the wash borders on an 80’s acid wash – a nice departure from the other options in my closet.
I could even transition this look to fall by throwing on a warm wool blazer or long cardigan. On a recent trip to Katy Mills Mall for a blogger preview event, I purchased a gray cardigan with black leather details on the sleeves at Last Call, and I know that it would work really well with this look! I could also “winterize” this outfit by adding a black or white loose fitting blazer.
I find myself gravitating to my red Chanel Boy Bag whenever I need to add a subtle wow (is there such a thing?) to an outfit. I like the defined lines and thick gunmetal chain, which provide a masculine edge to an otherwise feminine piece. This piece is a bit less formal than the classic Chanel Flap Bag. I love both, but there’s a perfect time and place to pull one or the other from its dust bag.
A pair of patent leather stilettos dressed up my jeans and cropped top, and I also added simple gunmetal earrings and a multi-strand necklace as finishing touches.
I think I’ve convinced myself to pack these pieces for my upcoming trip – so perfect for a dressy casual dinner (if there is such a thing).
Any other outfit suggestions for my trip?
Love always,
Lisa Dawn

Australia sounds amazing. I have always wanted to visit down under but 20+ hours on a flight would be a nightmare for me. I hate flying but I love to travel. Crazy, right? I love the outfit. I think I would be cute with a pair of converse and a fitted ball cap as well for a more casual vibe. Have a great trip 🙂

I’ll let you know how I handle the flight. I am the same way and dislike the flying part. I love to travel though, so I try to suck it up. lol My longest flight was to Thailand, so I’m expecting about the same. I agree that the outfit would look great with a cap and converse! I’ll be packing those items for sure. 🙂

Thank you so much for the sweet words, Denise! It is freezing in Houston right now, so I can’t wait to get on the plane to Australia! I’m not excited about the flight at all, but I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time. So happy that I’ll finally get the chance. Be on the lookout for my upcoming posts on my trip! Thank you for checking out ACE!
